Life: Born in Maryland, I have spent most of my life in the vibrant Seattle area. I graduated from Washington State University with a major in Communications (broadcast journalism) and a minor in music (vocal performance). I’m a proud father of two amazing young adult sons and have lived in various places, including Seattle, Tacoma, Boise, Spokane, Shoreline, Edmonds, Manhattan (Upper West Side), Great Neck (Long Island), Bothell, WA, and now back in Edmonds.
Work: My career journey is diverse and dynamic. I’ve done everything from scrapping paint off a rusting ship and cleaning toilets as a park employee to delivering pizzas and working at a small publishing company. My professional path led me to significant roles in four television stations, Microsoft, Consumer Reports, and now Amazon Web Services (AWS). At AWS, I lead a talented team of 50 technical writers and managers, delivering high-quality technical documentation for various AWS services.
Professional background: I have over 15 years of experience in digital media, product and content management, working with global powerhouse brands in both B2B and B2C domains. I am a Certified ScrumMaster® and Certified Scrum Product Owner®, adept at applying Agile methodologies to drive online product roadmaps and improve user engagement. My background in journalism has earned me several accolades, including Regional Emmy Awards, and in the tech world I’m most proud of my MSN Make Others Great Award. See my profile on LinkedIn.
Passions: My passion for the arts runs deep, rooted in my background in music and drama, which led me to a fulfilling career in broadcasting. I love to sing and perform, and I’m also a fitness enthusiast, having lost 100 lbs three times (I really love food). Cooking is another passion, and I’m known for my killer spaghetti sauce, sourdough bread, and grilled steak that will make your toes curl.
Geek side: I’m an avid gamer with a collection that includes PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Xbox 360, GameCube, N64, Wii-U, DS, 3-DS. I also have a soft spot for Doctor Who, a show I’ve loved since childhood, and I enjoy reading Stephen King and I also loved Game of Thrones, which makes my notable encounter with some of the stars pretty special.
Community involvement: I am actively involved in the Edmonds community, serving as the Vice Chair of the Edmonds Economic Development Commission and a member of the Philanthropy Committee for the Edmonds Center for the Arts. These roles allow me to contribute to the cultural and economic vibrancy of the city I call home.
Motto: I’m nowhere near where I need to be, but I’m closer than I was before. #NeverGiveUp
